“October: Fire Prevention Month and Safety Awareness”
Staff Report / SHlocal.org
October is designated as Fire Prevention Month, commemorating the Great Chicago Fire, which took place from October 8-10, 1871. This annual observance focuses on the significance of fire safety and prevention.
In 2024, National Fire Prevention Week will occur from October 6-12, with the theme “Smoke Alarms: Make Them Work For You!” During this week, the Spring Hill Fire Department plans to provide helpful safety tips aimed at ensuring the safety of families in the community. The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to promote awareness about the importance of working smoke alarms in preventing fire-related incidents.
